Why join a sorority?
A sorority is a wonderful way to get involved in campus life and the community. Our members gain more than just new friends; they gain a support group of like-minded sisters, they build strong friendships that’ll last a lifetime, they form sisterly bonds, and gain life and leadership skills.

Why Kappa Beta Gamma?
Kappa Beta Gamma’s purpose is to improve our members socially, morally, and intellectually. Our mission is to develop 'Character, Culture, and Courage' in all aspects of life. We promote high ideals of education, social responsibility, sisterhood, culture, and community in our members. We support the endeavours of our members and are dedicated to giving them the best opportunities for personal and professional development.

What is rush?
Rush is a 2-3 week recruitment period where our sorority hosts a variety of fun events for those interested in joining! During this time, participants will learn more about our sisters and chapter.

Who is eligible to rush?
Any female-identifying student who attends Ontario Tech University, Durham College, or Trent University are welcome to rush! We accept full-time and part-time students. You can be in any year of your study, and we accept Master's and PhD students too!

Does it cost money to rush?
No, all our events are free to attend!

Do I have to be in Oshawa to rush?
No. As long as you attend Ontario Tech University, Durham College, or Trent University, you can rush!

What is the time commitment like?
We have about one event per week, plus any other extra events you may want to attend. In your first semester, instead of attending weekly chapter meetings, you will meet with your New Member Educator for weekly education sessions.

Do you haze?
Absolutely not. Kappa Beta Gamma has a very strict no hazing policy. Hazing violates the Canadian anti-bullying policy, so we can assure you that no hazing will ever take place. All members are required to sign an anti-bullying contract.

What is ‘New Member Education’?
Before joining Kappa Beta Gamma, each New Member Candidate is guided through a period of education where they learn the organizational history, morals, ideals, and responsibilities of a Kappa Beta Gamma sister. The education period consists of 8 units and must be completed in order for each member to know the organizational purposes and hold their membership in high regard.

What are the financial responsibilities of membership?
Each New Member Candidate pays a one-time, non-refundable fee for education that must be paid in full before the education period begins. After initiation, each member is responsible for Inter/National dues as well as Chapter dues. International dues are determined by Headquarters and go toward events such as events, insurance, business operations, Greek Management Systems, and general administration. Chapter dues go toward day-to-day operations, and is determined by the Chapter Membership. It's greatly dependent on the quantity and type of events hosted and campus fees. While many of our members consider our dues to be very affordable in comparison, we continue to encourage fundraising throughout the year to decrease the amount of funds that are out of pocket.

What happens after graduation?
Our sisterhood doesn't stop when our college days have ended. As a lifelong member of Kappa Beta Gamma, there are many opportunities to continue your involvement at the Alum level depending on the available level of participation. Our membership stretches across the United States and Canada. Our International Alumnae Society fosters Alum involvement to support our active chapters while providing continued development opportunities for our members.
